Maybe his father isn’t as good as he remembers, maybe it’s his father beating him, in that grayed out memory. Either the father betrayed his son to kill him at sum point, n the teach was so traumatized his brain erased those memories n only kept the good side of his father, or his father has always been abusive and his memory over wrote the memories of his dad being nice and a good father to cope. Heck, even the teach might not be, who he remembers himself to be. It’s a theory I’ve had for a while, maybe he’s memories of his past self was so bad to himself that he over wrote them with the “better version” he wanted be of himself. A teacher… Maybe he’s not even a teacher…
