First touch, first kiss and all that stuff, imagine all of that but with just one person your entire life, they filled you up enough to make you blind to everyone else. You start to fall more in love with the idea of them than actually them. When she realises this she tries her best to move on, but now all of a sudden she realises that the love she constructed could become real, and so much less painful than before, wouldn’t she jump at the chance? People who are obsessed with first love are married to the notion that love can only be felt with one person, which is one of the reasons she didn’t romantically move on, and is still struggling. I’m glad the author is milking this properly, I think only certain people will understand this feeling properly
As for Ethan I don’t know what he’s thinking because she actually doesn’t deserve him, he should know even if her feelings were valid her actions are not
