It started out so promising and crashed. The ending was definitely rushed. I wonder if the mangaka felt burnt or was told they had to tie it up after x number of chapters.
I thought that they would have a reveal that Beomjoon wasn't actually a gangster but was actually an undercover detective trying to investigate a drug ring or human trafficking. And that being a gangster was just part of his cover. That Jeong Hui-jae would find out he was actually a good guy with heavy-handed tactics. I thought that the subplot with the classmate was leading in that direction. I thought the classmate was unknowingly in league with a crime figure that Beomjoon was trying to bust, and Beomjoon would bust that the crime figure in the process of saving Jeong Hui-jae and the classmate.
We never really understand who Beomjoon actually was or why his real name was such a closely guarded secret. It would have made sense of he was actually a notorious gangster or an undercover detective, and the way it ended, it just seemed like he was a gangster.
In one of the chapters, Jeong Hui-jae finds a tortured man trapped in a room that Beomjoon forbid him from entering. We never learned why. So in the way it ends, it seems like Beomjoon was just a ruthless gangster torturing someone. This is what causes Jeong Hui-jae to be afraid of Beomjoon, but it's never addressed again. I wish that subplot had been resolved. I wish Jeong Hui-jae was given answers. I wish we were given answers. It would have been nice to learn what happened to Jeong Hui-jae's father, who abandoned his own son to escape loan sharks. I thought the father would make an appearance again, and Jeong Hui-jae would either confront him, or Beomjoon would intervene on his behalf. SO. MANY. UNANSWERED. QUESTIONS. AND. HANGING. PLOT. THREADS.
Instead, we get a kind of abrupt ending.
This chapter explains why Joo Jaekyung gets along so well with Kim Dan's grandma. His former coach's mother - a grandma figure - was so kind and good to him - more of a mother to him than his own mother. So Joo Jaekyung probably found it comfortable to talk to her and maybe it partly explains why he was so quick to cover her medical bills
I was curious about Lee Taegun and Seo Eun-Seong's back story so I looked at the raws. I don't read Korean so my interpretation may not be accurate. Here goes.
SPOILERS AHEAD

Seo Eun-Seong and Lee Taegun went to the same high school. After Seo Eun-Seong loses his parents and is orphaned, he is suicidal. He goes to the top floor of a tall building and is about to jump when he sees Lee Taegun below. They make eye contact. Seo Eun-Seong hesitates and just stands there. Lee Taegun goes to the top floor and sees Seo Eun-Seong. He offers Seo Eun-Seong an extended hand and says "I'll help you."
From there on in, Lee Taegun looks out for him. Gives him food and snacks. Sees that he is self-isolating and tries to talk to him. Is all-around kind and caring. Seo Eun-Seong is aggravated by this. Lee Taegun says he knows what it's like to be an orphan and that he's just looking out for him. Seo Eun-Seong says that Lee Taegun has no idea what it's like to be him and doesn't understand what the pain of loss is like, since Lee Taegun has always been an orphan, and Seo Eun-Seong once had parents but lost them.
Seo Eun-Seong is depressed and so he's a jerk to Lee Taegun and says some ugly things to the guy who was kind to him, empathized with him and was only trying to help. Lee Taegun is understandably hurt and offended, because his kindness was thrown back in his face, and I think Seo Eun-Seong is the one who doesn't understand Lee Taegun's struggles of having been alone always and having to fend for himself always.
They're both teenagers and it's just a sad situation. It makes me think that if the two of them had been friends from the get-go, Lee Taegun might not have been in such a vulnerable situation as a teenager and wouldn't have through the exploitation and trauma he went through... since my theory is that even though Seo Eun-Seong was orphaned, he probably had some sort of inheritance and relatives he could still turn to, so he was still better off than Lee Taegun. But I understand Seo Eun-Seong grief of losing his parents too, and how that made him say something utterly cruel in a moment of vulnerability.
I love how Seo Eun-seong is running interference to protect Lee Taegun and allow him to shine in his role as the hero, away from Kang Jaeha's malevolence and horrible intentions.
I wish Kang Jaeha would just drop dead.
Im pretty sure I’ve been here longer than 2016.
Anyone remember mangafox or mangahere?
I love how Pilwoo always finds a loophole to Seo's directives.
I think Seo subconsciously gives open-ended directives which Pilwoo can mess with because he secretly enjoys Pilwoo's attention and affection
Someone posted they're going to wait until this is finished, and will speed read past all the pain and suffering, and I'm going to do the same. I'll wait until all the chapters are out before I pick it up again.
The latest chapters turns a few things on its head. Baek-Yeon isn't a helpless victim of circumstance, abandoned by his father, left in a strange place. From a young age, he sent his father away to save his life, chose where he wanted to live and decided he felt safest with an eccentric but kind antique collector and his grandson on their enclosed property. He was choosing his own path from the get-go.
Chapter 94 makes me really sad. Derwin's lighthouses which allowed them to trade, prosper and grow, were built by Archaia (well, Brian from Archaia) and from mana, but in the main timeline, Derwin views Archaia as an enemy and is suspicious of mana.
Possible spoilers...

I looked at some raws and I think that Lorkan faces a contract onto Brian while he's on a mission to another town, and asleep and recovering. Brian doesn't know this and Sol senses it when he hugs him. So now Brian has an eternal contract with both brothers—one with Sol, which was by mutual consent and is an agreement between partners/lovers, and one with Lorkan, which is more like slave-master relationship.
It explains the present, where Sol was looking for Ian and Lorkan had him under his thumb the whole time. And Sol didn't manage to find Ian until he had grown up, and was living in a nation that's hostile to magic users, so little orphan Ian grows up ashamed of himself and is trauma bonded to Lorkan. If Ian had been born in Archaia and had grown up under Sol's watch, things would be different and he wouldn't be so emotionally damaged and wary. But we wouldn't have all the drama and conflict of this story ha ha.

I decided to do a re-read now that this story complete. Knowing how it ends enabled me to enjoy the smut from chapters 3 to 11, as it's clearer now that Ivan and Rau's interactions constitute reluctant consent at worst, and not sexual assault. That said, I can't bear to re-read from chapters 20 to 32 inclusive. While I don't want to spoil too much, that definitely contains rape and sexual assault and I must say that I hate the character Deon. Even chapters 18 and 19 were excruciating as you can see that Ivan is about to walk into the lion's den in the form of Deon. If you want to skip the most problematic parts while still getting most of the story, read from 1 to 19, and then pick it up again from 33 through to the end. The Ivan-Rau dynamic was hot and I was here for that. Ivan is intensely possessive of Rau, and earlier on was quite manipulative but ultimately wants to protect Rau and doesn't want him to do anything against his will.

I can't wait for the anime to come out!
I love how Taegun's backlash makes him super talkative, especially during sex, while the usually repressed Eun-Seong would rather him shut up so he can nail him in the horniest, most primal of ways. They're such opposites. LMAO
I think there's a side story or two. The main story's finished but there are 3 more chapters left.
Mostly because I want to see how Kim Dan is doing. He is such a sympathetic character, you can't help but root for him. I think if he had stayed at the gym, the other members would have supported him through his grandma's last days, like encouraged him to take time off or take him out for drinks to support him. I think potato would have been attentive. When Kim Dan was forced to resign, it's like he lost a whole family there. It's so sad.
Ash started off being a helper to heal Lyle's aversion's sex. So Ash was a gentleman who romanced Lyle, showed restraint and also the normal positive aspects of a relationship. It was only meant to be a short-term arrangement so Ash could curate the parts he presented and also he genuinely wanted to be a good human being and help Lyle.
The other side of Ash's personality is one that is passionate, demanding and possessive. So kind, romantic, gentlemanly Ash is still Ash. And passionate, demanding and possessive Ash is still Ash. Lyle is just coming to terms with both sides, and Ash is coming to terms with the fact that both sides are still him and Lyle just saw one side initially.
Lyle was scared that Ash would get sick of him, so he was looking for his own apartment. Ash both helped but mostly hindered Lyle's apartment hunting, while secretly wanting Lyle to live with but being afraid of Lyle being able to cope with all of him. Lyle was the one who started off as vulnerable; now it's Ash learning to be vulnerable and 100% open to Ash.
I really wonder if Kin-Heon is the Jade Emperor ha ha. I mean, Baek-Yeon saw a picture of Kin-Heon's graduation gowns and thought they were royal robes, so it was a joke about Baek-Yeon being an over-imaginative dreamer. But it would be really interesting if they took the story that way
Zero sympathy for Yoojoon, he shouldn't have rejected Jihyuk when he confessed. Maybe he didn't realize his true feelings at that point, but he was utterly cruel in his rejection. Not even a "Can I think about it?"
Can't stand Eunseong and his manipulative lying ass either. Jihyuk is too good for either of them, he should ditch them both.
I can't stand stories that can be resolved with one simple honest conversation between the characters. That's all it would take this resolve this mess. Plots build on a little poor communication are so flimsy, as weak AF. Before you come at me with, "If you don't like, don't read"; well, it started so good with an actual storyline and now it's just predicated on poor communication between two bumbling fools and one manipulative character.
