Interesting story. The omega’s alpha socialization made him feel ready for a protective and strong alpha role that he over performed and ultimately internalize so much bigotry for the other gender. Omegas are okay, his (inferior, weaker, smaller) lover being an omega is okay, but not him! He can’t be on the other side, he should’ve been the lucky one (fair probably, but selfish).

He should also know better than anyone that alphas have protective instincts, since he used to be protective as a kid, yet he can’t comprehend that his friend, an actual alpha, ended up actually displaying these instincts.

Suha rejected his gender too at first out of love for him, but he didn’t turn it against his innocent friend/crush, but against himself. It’s conditional illusionary love vs raw unconditional love to the point of losing yourself for the other.
