When he's in his monster form he's not black y'all.... He's supposed to have skin that's rotten, but the author decided to soften it so the readers doesnt feel disgusted. The curse do make people immortal, but it's not all rainbow and sunshine, that's why people are so scared from the curse. Imagine you can't die but your skin keep aging to the point it's decaying while you're still alive
