There hasn't been any notion of Cale ever gaining immortality, but there has been a reveal of his bloodline and how our mc from modern world ended up as the Cale we know.

He doesn’t know that will extend his lifespan. But yes, he did use it against the “ mastermind” at near the end of the first part of the novel. He needed to stab himself in the heart in order to kill the mastermind using the branch/tree sapling thing.(The novel is still ongoing on its second part, where Cale faces the Hunters ( new evil bad guys).
around the time i started college many of my then favorite stories came to an end, like tokyo revengers, dangerous convenience store, cherry blossoms after winter, third ending and a few others. That's when I started reading this , it became my weekly obsession like I'd patiently suffer through my college week waiting for thursday so I could read a new chapter . idk whats about this story that has me so obsessed with it. but it does genuinely hold a special place in my heart.
I'm glad it's coming back soon because I'll graduate in half a year and I just want to finish this before I finish college.
