In a similar discussion I learned that rape fantasies/ rape romanticism is a cultural thing for Japanese women. Manga are written for the paying audience so the opinions of us freeloaders don't matter, writers write what their paying audiences want bc that is what publishers profit on. I prefer not to impose my cultural values on others so I won't judge. I avoid rape to love stories and prefer stories where, if rape is present that it is somehow essential and meaningful to the plot or a character's development rather than thrown in for cliche by a poor writer

I personally believe, the only way the authors really accepted homosexuality is if the bottom was forced into that role, which highly isn’t reality, but that’s their mental way of creating the “bottom” instead of it stemming from actual males that either knew they liked or grew to like the same gender and look into the vast world of homosexuality out of curiosity. It does suck that real men get raped but they certainly don’t forgive and forget, or “suddenly turn gay”. But once again, it’s just fiction and they really only wanna see the good scenes which is why most read those unrealistic yaoi plots.

Yaoi was written for women and many mangaka are female none of it reflects what life is like for rl homosexuals let alone heterosexual men who get raped. Yaoi is supposed to give Asian fujoshis a chance to fantasize about being a man so they don't have have to hide their enjoyment in the act. These ukes have to be seduced by these big and strong manly semes who are filled with lust and uber aggressive and skillful. If it's rape they have the excuse that the sex couldn't be helped. When the uke falls in love with the seme , they still say no and try to hold back their voice until pleasure takes them over the edge. It may be easier to fantasize being an uke because they are the bottom/receiving end for the penis just like women irl. Men irl struggle with their pride as men/ego and their masculinity and strength if they have been raped, they are so ashamed they don't always report it and I agree forgiving/forgetting isn't gonna happen without years of therapy.
