The person with the mental disease was the ML.
ML didn't love FL, merely was obsessed with her. Twisted obsession.
FL had faith in her parents being good people and didn't try to question their jobs and actions they took. Nor did she try to get into politics, exactly the way she was raised.
FYI, noble ladies are usually taught from childhood to be into hobbies that aren't really money making or political.
ML despises FL's fam and killed and overthrew them but started projecting this anger onto the innocent FL just because he didn't have anyone else to vent on.
ML also gaa lighted himself into believing that torturing her was right. And that she was meant to live unhappy.
And thought she'd be unhappy if she wasn't with him.
FL is ignorant and could walk out of i, but the trauma followed and made her unable to lift that obstacle.
FL just needs a will to live.
