I Can tell the maid is being manipulative and probably isn't that good of a person but what she said was true. She needs to establish her position and put the mistress/maid in her place. The mistress sees her as weak and probably wouldn't mind getting rid of her as well. So she needs to get rid of her fast or atleast break her down and destroy the relationship between her and her husband. & To establish her position in the manor doesn't mean she needs to treat the staff poorly but she does need to speak out and command with authority.
