It's a blatantly indulgent power fantasy, but you know what, that's totally fine with me. I love seeing Sung Ji Woo grow from an E-level weakling to the monarch of shadows; sometimes it's fun to read a story where you know the MC is gonna win every battle all the time. The story line is compelling enough to keep things interesting and it moves along at a really good pace, and the shadows are all amazing supporting characters. O(∩_∩)O Beru is adorable, I love him so much!
The only thing that really falls flat is the romance angle. I don't mind a good romance in an action manhwa, but this is so ridiculously forced; it would come out of nowhere if I didn't see it coming a mile away because Female Lead Syndrome. As soon as Cha Hae In was introduced, I knew they were going to get together in the end, but her character isn't developed well enough for that at ALL, and I didn't get the sense at any point over the course of the story that Ji Woo is even slightly interested in romance. Should've stopped after the main story, or at most after chapter 185. But if I pretend the side story doesn't exist, 5/5 amazing series would definitely read again.
