Why would the reaper's contract be called "Isänmaa" (fatherland) instead of "Sisu" which translates to a combination of having guts, determination, resilience, etc. in a situation where failure is most likely option and success is only gained through pain.

The word is literally derived from the word for innards (sisukset), as are Häyhäs bullets. I'm almost certain that the translator fucked up the sub-title right there, because there's no way in hell did the writer write something that fitting for the most Finnish word of them all, after years of having the character in the planning stages and then not use it here.

i was also wondering that because we finnish people take pride in our sisu immensely and it would have made more sence.
