Is anyone else weirded out by this whole side effect arc where she “can’t remember or feel anything negative”? She’s not being optimistic, she’s acting and thinking like a child. She’s basically mentally disabled now. Just a weird plot sequence in general.
While I’m glad Rutger turned her down (seeing as she basically has the mentality and reasoning of a child right now), his entire rationality was stupid and self centered. He knows how desperate Leoni is to get her kids back, but I don’t buy that “let her be born of love” crap. The kid’s soul already exists, is fully conscious, is astrally lurking inside Leoni all the time, and specifically said “I want to be born asap”.
What’s the holdup? He’s waiting for a magical rainbow romance with Leoni, and in the meantime…. what? He knows she does not, and has never loved him romantically, so how many years is he going to wait until she loves him enough?
It would be one thing if he was concerned about Briana being considered a bastard, or legitimately felt uncomfortable sleeping with someone he wasn’t in a relationship with, but that’s not what’s going on. What he’s essentially saying is “the kid you love who is waiting in limbo can’t be born until I am convinced you are in love with me”. That’s the bs. And if she wasn’t fucking mentally disabled right now, she would have called him on it
