the neighbors think subaru is a normal kid, living with his older sister, but he’s not. i went into this story expecting a romance, and i think that’s unhelpful and inaccurate. this is a quiet and angsty tragedy, drawn very beautifully. it’s about being stuck in the present, while pining desperately for that which you once had. it’s about mysteries and discovering old, forgotten family bonds. it’s about heartbreak. painful (but i love it). 8/10!
