I’ve heard real life stories of how war separated lovers and families, my own great grandfather having lost his entire family to a massacre bc of his ethnicity and later fighting in war for the freedom of our country.
Seeing the effects of war on screen and especially the way it affects relationships always makes me emotional. I also love that they didn’t demonize Lucia, Henry’s wife and turned her into a source of agony for Martha. I love that they found peace in their bond even if tragedies kept them apart for long.
