Ohhh that scene with his mom at the end of season 1 hurts so bad, Xu Shang went through so much to find ppl and places he could be himself and be free and happy and then it’s like his mom slapped him with a “society is cruel” reality check and Mi Xi is gone and-

I’m actually tears running down my face, ugly sniffling, crying at these chapters… Penelope… you deserve to be loved and feel loved… the Duke needed to say these things and hug you… oh my god… a hurt, traumatized, unloved child finally receiving the care and affection from a parent they should’ve received it from since the start… the wrongs against Penelope being corrected to the person who needs to give that care and affection to her… fuck oh my god

Mujin and the fake-Jiheon really annoyed me as characters, like don’t get me wrong I absolutely love and adore crazy obsessive tops and their weird possessive freak-ness but they were NOT IT for my boy Jaewoo. Since the moment Jaewoo woke up in this novel it was just him falling for Hyeonjin and wanting him to be happy and I loved seeing him develop to the point that he could admit he wanted to be happy WITH him…
Mujin and Eunjoo are cut from the same cloth of crazy which is clearly not Jaewoo’s type and also they so obviously do not care about Jaewoo, they just want to own him and not even in the fun way…
I never took this story too seriously from the start bc it seemed pretty light hearted, cliche-like, and fast-paced (I say that all positively) but at the end I’m really just watching Jaewoo and Hyeonjin and the lil brothers and going “WHY CANT THEY JUST BE HAPPY TOGETHER?!?”

Jaewoo and Hyeonjin were truly born to slice-of-life romance and forced to angst-drama-tragedy ╥﹏╥
