I agree with you, and tbh I suspect that a lot of those stories are written (and read) by people who see rape and "I can't stop myself" as a sign of attraction ("I am so attracted to you/I want you so much, I can't hold myself back"), rather than an assault that violates a person's right to safety and autonomy.
