im sorry but people can’t villainize one character without villainizing both and you can’t victimize a character without villainizing the other. there is no morally correct victim or perpetrator in this story. both are coming from correct places LIMITED to the understandings of their own separate situations, which happen to be vastly different in experience due to different backgrounds.
seo an has been patient with woo won to the best of his abilities and it’s unfair to reduce all of seo an’s efforts to a single moment of hurtful words spoken in the heat of the moment after how long and hard he tried to piece the relationship together with someone who always feels inferior no matter what you do to help diminish that inferiority (not woo won’s fault tho). seo an has always been a wealthy man so he operates in the way he knows best—being wealthy. he has so much assets that he doesn’t mind utilizing his position to help out his lover. in his mind, he’s probably frustrated that woo won doesn’t know how to use him, and this probably makes him think he’s not reliable enough. but in his desperation, he forgets to consider woo won’s own circumstances & feelings
and people who blame woo won have clearly never been depressed or been in the vicinity of someone who’s depressed. depressed people are UNABLE to take care of themselves and this is probably more hard hitting for woo won who has always been an independent person and his financial instability keeps him grounded. now that he no longer has to worry about staying afloat, he has to worry about not being valuable. it’s a normal urge in relationships to want to be “of use” to your partner but it’s only exacerbated becuz seo an is of a completely diff financial bracket. he was raised with everything woo won never had, had needed, and had missed. money HAD always played a part in all of woo won’s relationships. his mom needs him becuz of medical bills. his dad needs him becuz of his debt. woo won is always providing and that’s the way he only knows how to show love. so even when money’s no longer a factor, LIVED experiences are. he’s lived with this mindset for half his life and can’t easily escape it.
seo an wants to help woo won in the way he felt helped him, by being there for him just as woo won did, and clearly that is not working out well because familiarity does not magically erase the daunting financial gap between them. I just wish they could find a middle ground where they can respect each other’s wishes and they better hurry tf up cause this shit ain’t good 4 my cortisol levels
