My prediction is that fox guy is not allowed in the human realm anymore because he already achieved his mission then he's forced to go back.
My other prediction is that fox guy wasn't actually granted the ability to go be with the mc and he just escaped his realm just to be with mc then he gets punished either dragging him back to his realm or slowly ending his life.
I don't have a clue but I'm certain that the angst might be because of him being a fox
