i'd change my tune (and tbh probably drop it because no way the author is good enough to write this respectfully) if he was s*xually abused as a child too and exposed to such violence that he feels that's the ONLY way he can hook up with someone. even just lectures from his dad about how "domination is the only way you can get anywhere in life" without any SA would help, but with how much tenderness he was shown by other people it lowkey doesn't make sense why he ended up the way he did.
the narrative is looking like
he was abused/financially destitute as a kid - that made him want to win all the fighty fight blood fight competitions and get money - he has now become extremely reckless with his money, his ego is out of control, and he violently forces his s*x partners into non consenting hookups
idk but nowhere in this train of thought are the pieces clicking for him to be so violent in bed. UNLESS that violent domineering nature was in him to begin with, in which case his issues can't just be solved with the soft tender loving of dan (ngl i fucking hate dan lol) or whatever. someone with such an intrinsic bias for violence needs a stay at a psych ward and aggressive therapy/medication treatment
