i really like this side of the story. a lot of stories today have one-sided villains, and as much as i hate kang mincheol as a person, i love how much character depth he has. i hope ML has as much depth as mincheol does.
so glad i watched the anime first & THEN came to the manga, bcuz the animation & voice acting is what saved this story for me i think it’s just the mangaka’s way of telling this story (besides the cliche trope ofc) that arnold feels so 2-dimensional with no depth lol
tbh i never really was worried about haeil. maybe it’s just bc ive read so many manhwa atp LOL but i never thought he would be a threat/weird to giju, so im really glad that she was able to see such a vulnerable side of haeil & meet haemu. they’re so cute together, & haemu is sooo precious (๑•ㅂ•)و✧

hananoi & hotaru fought & broke up because after hananoi learned that hotaru’s grandpa died the day he didn’t call, he always carried around that guilt thinking it was his fault. and he never really let himself grieve. he just always held himself accountable for something that was out of his control, & i think he felt guilty towards hotaru since he was her grandpa. (at least that was how i understood) also, at the time, hotaru was adapting herself to “cater” to hananoi’s needs (even tho she was doing it because she wanted to love him in her own way, not bc she felt forced to fix him or whatever), & hananoi freaked out thinking he was changing her character completely. more guilt he holds over himself without communicating his feelings, and he breaks up with her and leaves. my poor babies

i will say though, while i believe majority of the issue lies within hananoi’s insecurities & inability to communicate his feelings properly (though he’s working on it!), hotaru was also at fault! she, unbeknownst to her, put a lot of pressure on hananoi to make friends & do things that was outside of his comfort zone. ofc, they were decisions made with good intentions, but decisions that kinda forced hananoi’s hand.
Both were a tiny bit toxic but it was simply cuz of their upbringing. They will get better for sure as they work things out! Not everyone is perfect and i love how this shoujo manga didnt idealize the characters to be “perfect”
idk it just doesnt resonate like the original one and some of these scenes feel very… out of character for cej. maybe i’m the fool, but when i read ch. 50smth in the novel when lsy tells cej about nwj treating grandma, i was not imagining that facial expression to each their own though.
anyone else think this or am i crazy?
Myenn I was thinking the same. It feels so very odd. Like most of the reactions and scenes are very different from what I imagined according to the novel
