Are you talking about the heroine as opposed to the FL? Because the FL is the girl who first realized she was living in a comic. The heroine is the one the author created to be the focus of the story. The heroine actually doesn't seem as naive and helpless as you make her out to be. She's the one who didn't want Dohwa's attention for precisely this reason, after all. Thx.
What do you mean naive innocent and save by the male lead? are we even reading the same story? She literally trying to live her unavoidable life on her own. Fighting for her own happiness. That's is strong female character in my opinion. Just because she is sick doesn't mean she is weak.
