The author is, in my opinion, a bit shameless in the way they’re trying to make us pity Jaekyung after all this time. You can already tell that the author is about to utilize all the same tropes that other stories do to make us understand the ml and his behaviors, while not realizing that they’ve taken they’re character to the point of no return. Like okay, Jaekyung has probably gone through some pretty messed up shit in his childhood. But can u really look at his potential past and say that it’s worse than what Dan has gone through in the past or even present? And even if it is worse, that is no excuse when he’s rich and has access to mental health professionals that can help fix his character flaws. Whereas Dan has had no money, but manages to have empathy for others regardless and is kind to even the shittiest of people like Jaekyung. I understand everyone reacts to their trauma in a different way, but that trauma reaction is an explanation, not an excuse.
