My reasoning is a little weird, but stay with me here. I've had mostly emotionally unstable male figures in my early life, which led me to believe that men had no other emotions besides anger. So I never knew stuff like BL/Yaoi existed (much less gay people since I live in a very conservative state), but in middle school, I met a girl who I quickly became friends with that showed me my first ever BL, The Deliverance of the Counterattack.
