The story is interesting but Lister's abusive behavior is horrific to the point of gratuitousness and it continues for a very, very long time without any comeuppance until much later. The author continues to have others characters push Sylhan and Lister together and it's infuriating.
So I can't blame you. I love the world building and political intrigue but the SA and feminization of Sylhan in some instances in particular is disgusting.

Exactly, the bar is too low honestly. The disgust I felt when I read how the author showed the SA so graphically outweighs the fact that the story is well written. Criticize where criticism is due. Its not quirky in the slightest to show rape and sexual assault in the way it is shown in this story. To say an example the author of berserk himself has spoken up about how he regrets including so much gore in his manga. Back to the topic, I don't know what kind of a masochist you have to be to enjoy the torture slyhan has to go through. He's completely helpless and his assaulter continues to go unpunished. I read some spoilers saying he dies by the end of the story, and that slyhan gets his revenge but it doesn't feel rewarding in the slightest! All he does is die??!! he needs to to be punished gravely. He gets his redemption by dying?? Come on now. Honestly I'm not gonna continue reading this story because it gives me no satisfaction or engagement. I don't wanna be in my toes every chapter cringing at the torture the slyhan has to go through. Tbh the only reason majority of the readers like this story is because the art is good, the sex scenes are great and the MLs' torture is a guilty pleasure for them. Period
