the things i thought were weird:
1. age gap not clearly defined ??? at most 2 years, which isn’t too bad, but 16 and 18 just sounds wrong to my ears.
2. Tago talking about watching porn with his brother. they don’t actually say they did anything together ??? idk if i read it wrong but bro what the hell, it felt like there were some implications.
3. Tago jumping Ogi at his house and just showing him porn out of nowhere. WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT ??? BE NORMAL ????
ignoring these 3 things, their relationship is quite cute and loving. I want Ogi to gain some confidence in their relationship though, and they seriously need to have a talk about some stuff ! i could see this ending in heartbreak ngl, but i doubt it’ll ever be finished lol

For me sometimes I think 18 isn't old enough lol I think the age of consent should be at least 20. But I do agree 16 and 18 kinda sounds wrong but again from my experience 18 years old me was no different from 16 years old me lol
I read it back in the books that I have because I have the physical copies they're both 18 neither of them are minors they're almost a year apart though and I forget his name already but the one that's not blind is the older one and that's why he's in college and he's almost 19 by the second volume near the end of it he is 19

i am guilty of judging something before ive read it, and i will say i made some hasty assumptions when i found this. tbh i was expecting 25 chps of degenerate tentacle porn with possible mpreg. HOWEVER, i was proven wrong ! the plot has managed to captivate my interest !! BUT, i will say my one complaint is how physical their relationship is. I UNDERSTAND, that their relationship (kind of) started off of sex ! do not get me wrong, i don’t even think there’s enough porn in here to make me roll my eyes about it. i just hope that their actual romantic connection and chemistry grows in future chps. because i really believe they have potential for a meaningful relationship ! it’s just not quite there yet. also the possible side couple b/w Gabin and the blonde one, i need them to be in an unconventional relationship. no reason why, i just think if they do become a thing they should be as strange as possible.
i decided to pick this up again because i remembered it existed, and honestly i was disappointed . i feel like there was alot of potential that was not being delivered because of an excessive amount of porn. and obviously this is yaoi (literally a porn genre ), so it’s not like i wasn’t expecting it. but seriously there’s just so much. too many plot devices that r just excuses for porn (doors needing to orgasm in order to open the gateway, like mannn be fr). problematic content that was surprisingly well utilized for storytelling (jinyeong being manipulated by sid, portraying a toxic, onesided relationship. sid being the product of a cycle of abuse. etc etc), but at the same time being used as an excuse to draw explicit noncon scenes. idgaf if ur gonna write/draw problematic shit (esp if it’s for storytelling purposes), but some of it was srsly unnecessary. on top of that, some of the relationships made me uncomfortable, but there’s technically nothing wrong with them (and from a storytelling view once again they r interesting, but i question if they really needed to be romantic) ((i’m talking abt aaron and won . i mean like did they rlly have to meet when he was a kid ??? idk personal preference; i just hate that trope in immortal x mortal ships)). also Gyeongjoon being an angel was so predictable ima be fr. actually most of the big twists were predictable as hell, but whatever idc that much. i just wanted to complain abt the shit that bothered me. this isn’t even all of it, but i feel like this is too long already so.
What’s the point of reading smut and then complaining that they’re too much smut? There’re like 10’s of trillions of other types of stories to read.
the thing is, i literally say i was expecting the smut. there’s just an excessive amount of it; i feel like it undermines a lot of the serious topics, relationships, and plot points that were being written. not only that, but it’s not like it’s JUST a smut webtoon ??? at the end of the day it’s like 100+ chp story, and im free to complain abt that story being lame cuz of excessive porn. just my thoughts, u rlly don’t gotta agree
I’m also free to complain about you complaining. You also don’t have to agree. I think it’s a great story, topics, plot, relationships and all including the sex scenes. There are more serious genres you can read that don’t include any sex.
tbh all i’m saying is that if ur webtoon 130 chp with an actual plot, i’m expecting a story with some smut. not smut with some story lol

okay genuinely so good. i was so freaking stressed and filled with anxiety the last 20 chapters EVEN THOUGH I KNEW WHAT HAPPENED CUZ I SPOILED MYSELF. BUT i think it’s a testament to how well the story is written that it invoked such strong emotions in me. I think there are a few things that i still do not understand (why did mithrun survive the goat ??? why didn’t it finish eating his desire ????), but in the grand scheme of things they don’t really matter. I THINK ONE OF MY FAVORITE THINGS IN THIS WHOLE MANGA, IS THE DIVERSITY IN DESIGNS !!! THE FICTIONAL BIOLOGY OF THE MONSTERS !!!! AND THE FOUND FAMILY TROPE !!!! There are so many designs i love (Tade, Leed and the other orcs, Mithrun, Izutsumi, Kuro, THE GNOMESSSS), AND WHEN THEY EXPLAINED HOW THE RED DRAGON TURNS WASTE INTO FUEL AND USES ITS TONGUE LIKE A FLINT TO IGNITE THE FIRE BREATH, I GENUINELY SCREAMED CUZ IT WAS SUCH A COOL AND SMART EXPLANATION. I love that the dungeon is just an ecosystem, and that there are scientific reasons for the things that live inside (MOLLUSK LIVING ARMOR ??? WHO COMES UP WITH THAT BRO?????). anyway.
TLDR: Dungeon Meshi is super good and i really liked it for a lot of reasons.
