Whale Star: The Gyeongseong Mermaid – aka “Why Did I Do This to Myself?”

I’ve been *avoiding* drama manhwas like the plague because I just KNOW they’ll break my heart… and guess what? This one did. In the most beautiful, painful way possible. This had me crying in the club (aka my bed at 2AM)

The way it retells The Little Mermaid? Pure brilliance. Sua is the mermaid, Uihyeon is the prince, and Joseon/Korea is the “other princess” he ends up choosing?? Hello?? That metaphor?? *Chef’s kiss*

The art? Stunning.
The emotions? Devastating.
My heart? Shattered but thankful.

10/10 would recommend if you’re in the mood to cry and contemplate life. But now I need a fluffy, brainless romcom manhwa to revive me immediately.

Also—Hyeyoon x Dohyun for the live adaptaion, please! Manifesting that with my whole soul

I decided to stop reading at chapter 108 because my heart just couldn't take it anymore. at this point, I honestly just want Hana to forget everything and end up with a human... maybe the human version of Lux. (haha, jk!) (≧∀≦)

my heart aches for Lux and Hana. So I've decided to wait until the story finishes before continuing. I really hope there won’t be any more "non-consensual" scenes — but who knows? the main guys are demons anyway. still... ugh!

that said, this manhwa has some of the best snu snu scenes I’ve ever seen! (it made me miss Where the Heart Is, tbh. (˃ᯅ˂) )

the mix of story and smut is actually really well done. I’m excited to see how it all ends. xoxo

I’m reading the novel and decided to check this one out just so I can see them doing it (HAHAHAHAHAHA ⁄(⁄ ⁄·⁄ω⁄·⁄ ⁄)⁄ ) my imagination doesn’t work sometimes, ya know. Haha jk

Anyways, the art is gorgeous but it looks weird sometimes. Like the proportions, expressions. It made me go meh, but then I think it actually improved on the latter chapters.

I’ll go back to this one once everything is done, so gotta go read the novel again.

A good read. I can’t really complain about the ending since it is based off of the author’s own experience. Since it is based on true events, I realized how cruel reality can be.

I’m out of words... I just feel empty inside.

I’m all caught up with this. Man, this is such a good read! It’s sooo silly and fun! I love all the characters sooo much! I love the art — just everything!

And whatever y’all say, I loved how we get the chance to see Bora and Jay’s love story unfold. And Bo-eun is soooo adorbs! That moment when she met Jay’s brother was soooo freakin funny!

Dropped it after he rejected Yul. I personally prefer him over the ml. I like how straightforward his interactions with fl are, and how he made the fl realize her feelings for the ml, but I just cannot. Insert *ive seen this film before, and I didn’t like the ending*. It’s too cliche for me. I’m also more into assertive and strong female leads, and she’s not it for me. That’s all

Binge read this and I’m obsessed! It really got me kicking my feet. Hahaha! Just curious what happened to the ex though. I was expecting that he’ll reveal the relationship to the public, but I’m glad the story didn’t end up that way. Still, I’ll definitely re-read this! (≧∀≦)
