The AAVE is is ruining the translation

This isn't AAVE like at all some of it is poorly thrown in there but this is more like chronically online misplaced aave with weird gamer speech thrown in there. I agree that it's making me take this manwha so unseriously

a lot of gamer speak comes from aave because of black creators, yea there's a few parts that aren't aave and YES it's definitely really badly used but it depends on what you think is gamer speak that wasn't created or popularized by black creators. “on that [noun]”, “they’re wild for this one”, “damn near." are aave and in the first few pages cause I didn't want to read the rest lmaooo if you're tired and say "I'm cooked", it can be similar to saying "I'm beat." but if we change to “you’re cooking them” “he got cooked” as in destroyed that's aave not gamer speach because all gamers as a group didn't start using it in that way, black creators did then non-black gamers picked it up. if you're distracting the chef and someone say's "let him cook" not aave. if an athlete is taking a bit before making the shot and you say "let him cook" aave. accurately it's chronically online people who use aave that they've never used before in every word they speak kinda like how the dialogue here is going. I feel like if we look at what a lot of gamer slang phrases are, most of them aren't something a non-black creator could come up with without aave influence and so then in definition are most definitely aave

I don't disagree about the origin, more or less the fact that it's poorly applied and misused aave. That's why I don't consider it to be a proper use of aave. I know aave because I use it daily, in my regular speech with people in my home and outside my home. I think that's why I'm so forward about not calling it aave because frankly it reads like someone spamming a soundboard and not any tangible construction of an actual conversation between people who use aave. It's just off putting in the translation and shows that this person doesn't know how to actually utilize aave in an organic matter and takes phrases that have been misconstrued and misinterpreted by people online and over used. Also some of the phrases you referenced don't have those origins, the cooked phrase is used in the context of someone being in trouble or conceiving a "trust the process" product since mostly it's inception. Black people use other terms of phrase when referring to tiredness, and this varies by region. in my area we mainly say dead tired or fried. It's so much nuance and variation here hence why I did not want to call this sad mishmash of poorly appropriated turns of phrases in the translation aave. it is aave but god is it a shitty representation and use of it lol. i don't disagree with your comment btw, just hate the translation cause of everything i said above

“I’m cooked” (with the intention of meaning I’m tired) wasn’t my included uses of aave but a term that has no connection because of it’s meaning I’m tired if the person is choosing to use it in that way. I used a term that sounds similar but has no connection because the meaning, then followed it with aave that people think is more gamer slang like “he got cooked” which black creators did use and popularize before the rest began. I used “I’m cooked” to kind of mean “I’m pooped” or “I’m beat” (not the “America is cooked” version) but it was my example of non aave the same way “let him cook” to the person distracting a chef is a phrase people would probably rarely use, sounds like aave, but depending on what you’re talking about isn’t aave. also bro I’m dumb I thought you were saying all the phrases have 0% no aave origin like ppl always saying aave is just gen z slang but your comment said “misplaced aave” ohhhhh okay sorry I read over that

You're all good and perhaps I missread your comment as well with the whole cooked thing. All in all the translation is some ass because they decided to do it this way, I barely got through the first five speech bubbles

Am I the only one that shakes my head at some of the things Kate does and says. Especially when she gets complimented for being “bright and sharp” but she can be dumb as shit. I’m honestly don’t even know anymore, how df you gonna think Ian killed Daisy when you saw him and you said that he was gone for 30 minutes, bitch in 30 minutes he can get rid of her body but no he opened the door and revealed a dead daisy, like WTF if he killed her why df did he open the door or not dispose of her body smh. Honestly Kate needs to get her head out her ass and start THINKING, like girl, be logical and SMART AND START CONNECTING THE DOTS OMFGG. I’ve never met a more frustrating character cause she’s always so aloof and oblivious to everything like GURL GET IT TOGETHER AND REPRESENT STRONG WOMAN. Jesus Christ why does she trust the detective so much like you barely ducking know him, you didn’t even know his name at the start and you give him an expensive ass RING and don’t even consider the fact that he could lowkey SELL THAT SHIT.

When u said connecting the dots I immediately thought of the meme where a guy was holding up his hands and said I connected the dots and the other guy was saying u didn't connect sh*t

I think she just really wanted to believe that the house/mansion she's lived and worked at for 2 years (I don't really remember) was not place full of psychos so she chose to put the blame on Ian

Is it just me or do I really want the pink haired girl and the MC to end up together as a couple?
