More generally, I’m really impressed with the author’s ability — the relationship (before the Discovery) was simultaneously represented as uplifting yet unsettling for mc, I think that must have been hard to balance. Really good at showing how difficult it can be to know the truth between people you trust
I'm amazed that the stakes still feel heavy at this point in the story -- he's raised an OP cult for himself and it still feels dangerous and thrilling!!!
