They are going to meet again, probably in Tokyo. And there's like a 4-5 year gap between then, temporarily and age, when they meet again, and he (forgot his name lol) is going to be older. The temporarily shenanigans are all right there! The phone, the games, the way he speaks, the buildings. The "I study in Tokyo so we can still see each other" The supernatural touch is nice cause it has you doubting, but I don't think he is dead, I thin he is in another time line, sort of (I'm just gessing here, there's some kind of portal or something in that forest, right).
