As a girl who who started yaoi at a young age(11/12 yo), I absolutely understand. I started yaois bcs I was tired of women being so badly written. I just thought it would be okay if there wasn't any women. Then I kinda got addicted for some reason? At some point I couldn't even read straight stories and only read yaoi.
