I got all the way to 87. I remember really liking this and was super invested. I kept praying the author wouldn’t do what I thought they’d do but… ya. Got that incest. I don’t care whether it’s blood or not, this is incest. They had a sibling dynamic and were raised together as siblings so unless a story is actually going to put in the work into making the change of the relationship realistic then I don’t want to continue. Like, I’ve seen very few stories properly do this well. An example, trauma bonded into a familial like relationship however it’s not exactly the kind of the relationship one or both of them had wanted to form (this sort of thing is complex, I’ve seen other stories do it well but again I feel like authors always make it seem like family bonds are easy to erase. That romance trumps all and somehow gets rid of any other factors of the relationship).

I’m was really attached to this story before the romance so let me just yap a bit. What I would have liked to seen (if they really must be in a romantic relationship) is how incest can be a result of trauma. I’m not a psychologist so don’t take me too seriously but I would like it to go into a more psychological direction? Neither demonizing nor fantasizing the relationship, more showing how they slowly became more dependent on one another and how into their teens and adulthood the relationship warping from unhealthy codependency into a romantic relationship. Exploring how lonely they both are being mentally stunted by abuse in their childhoods being unable to trust and form deep bonds with others outside of themselves and how that results into the strange mixture of romantic and familial. Unsure if anyone else would have found that an interesting storyline. While it be an unfortunate result for them they would’nt exactly be unhappy? However neither would be ok either. Kind of a bitter sweet ending of sorts? Or during the romantic stage it gets intercepted by the other siblings trying to break through to them and it becomes a healing story where the romantic feelings don’t develop cause they learn to open up to their other family members? I’d also like that. Maybe I’ll right a fanfic for both? That’s called an AU I think.
