Groomer is an adult literally raising and coercing a minor into an act to take advantage of the minor and abuse them, not meeting a kid telling him what way their house is, and then after several years after meeting them again (and having no romantic relathionship with them whatsoever) until SEVERAL dozen more years after Himmels passing. They are shipped because Himmel was obviously head over heals for her and he expressed those feelings willingly, Frieren didnt force him to love her, nor did her showing him flowers make him feel like he needed to love her. There situation isnt the same.

Ig the main problem here is just the fact that she is technically raising him, I dont see this as an act of grooming either, mostly cause she isnt the one whose in love with the kid romantically. She is more preocupied with making sure everyone she lost, survives. She isnt seeing him like a man, but a kid who decided to stick around. Im sure later on she will be like oh my when did he grow up situation. But pls dont compare frieren and this. Cause yeah they are age gap but that doesnt just conclude IT MUST BE GROOMING IF THEY END UP TOGETHER, cause the older person x met younger person y when y was 8 GASP. (Unless they get in a romantic relathionship when y is 8 and x is like 20 then man sesh stay 6 ft away) no rational adult sees a minor and goes lets french kiss.

I think they were just saying if this is grooming so is shawty frieren and it doesn't seem like they think this is grooming.
Although I didn't understand why frieren would be example because i didn't consider himmel an underage person only cuz i didn't realize how old he was and i thought who was being considered in such an inappropriate (grooming) relationship was fern lol

Yeah I went toward Himmel cause of their one interaction with the flower magic when he got lost as a kid, and the fact they do see to share romantic feeling for eachother) Didnt consider Fern cause they obviously have no romantic feelings for eachother and rather treat eachother as sisters. Also caught that op doesnt see this as grooming just piped up because of the comparison, that was such a left field opinion I could not stay silent

i haven’t actually read this, i checked the comments to see if it was worth starting and saw the discourse,
all i meant was that mc meet a child when they were young, the child starts having a one-sided crush, comes back as adult as potential love interest.(why i mentioned frieren)
(did not know he lived with her for a bit(if i understood it correctly)until after i made the comment)

Nini I recommend you read it. Also sorry for yapping so long. Himmel didnt live like at all with Frieren at any point, she only directed him to his orphanage by legit pointing the direction. But yeah the grooming allegations on this is just absurd in my opinion as well. Also once again SORRY FOR YAPPING SO LONG

and i’m guessing you’re recommending reading frieren and not this one lol. i have started the anime but i haven’t gotten far at all but everyone says it’s so good
