the actual comic art is so different from the cover.. and not in a good way. at all. the plot turned to shit with the fuckass blonde ml and his constant rapist tendencies and the chopped uke who just accepts, embraces, and enables that shit. black haired ml seems like the only person with a brain in this story but i can tell it’s not of a bigger size than a mere pea. it’s js fumble after fumble after fumble.

a complete waste of time and energy. all in all, this shit sucks.

I knew the first life flashback was bound to happen but I didn’t expect it to be this horrible. My stomach actually twisted while reading this.

I think the beauty in this story is that we see the desperate groveling and repentance practically reeking off Ido before we even know what it properly is. Why is he giving Sejin everything and anything he could ever dream of? Why is he almost like a shining white knight? Then as it unravels you realize beneath the shining white knight is a man who’s terrified of himself, haunted by his past, and capable of cruelty that shocks you. The kindness and devotion we’ve seen aren’t just love, they’re penance, obsession, and fear all rolled into one. It makes every moment between him and Sejin charged with tension, because you’re never sure if what you’re witnessing is genuine affection or the desperate control of a man trying to rewrite his own mistakes.

I definitely overanalyzed this, but I’m very appreciative of the storytelling regardless of how obvious or hidden the ‘plot twist’ was.

In regards to the actual cooking show plot, I think it was executed nicely and I was actually pretty interested in the show. It seemed the author made sure to pay attention to the cooking aspect, because I was actually interested in the dishes and learning more about korean food culture, so that was overall pretty entertaining. (I also didn’t expect ML to win for some reason LOL)

However in terms of the relationship, The ML and MC had great chemistry in terms of banter and romance, and it seemed pretty realistic in the way you’d act when you try to pretend you don’t like someone but you do. However towards the end of the story, their dynamic just fell flat to me and I felt like they both had a shitload of miscommunication and personal issues to work through. Either way, I’m glad they got their happy ending, but I still wasn’t left with the “oomf” feeling I get after finishing a story.

When it comes to the PD, I actually disliked him a lot at first, but as the story progressed he grew on me and I found his dynamic with Jiho very entertaining. The love triangle was well executed, because I found myself rooting for both sides almost equally LOL. It’s obvious the PD also has lots of issues, however I do like the mature air that he has and that he’s a very ‘cut to the chase’ guy. It’s very well done that I do agree that if Jiho had met him first, they probably would’ve ended up as the endgame couple.

This is such a long review but if I have to give this an overall rating i’d give it a 7/10. The points above are why I love it, but I also find the ending not as satisfying as I thought. (I lowkey hoped they had given us an alternate ending side story where the PD and Jiho ended up together). Good read, but probably won’t reread it anytime soon.

I got reminded by how much i LOVED this! It reminds me of a soap opera in the best way possible, the ones you watch with your mom as a joke in the beginning then you’re left crying. I would get into a car crash js so that my memory gets wiped and I could experience reading this for the first time all over again

I’m a person who gets such bad second hand embarrassment I literally walk out of movie theaters when it gets too much. That kiss saved me from the pit of second hand embarrassment I was drowning in throughout the scene.. damn these idiots fr be triggering me but I can’t stop reading! Happy they’re finally on track to figuring things out.

This story now feels like getting pushed to the dance floor and told to dance by a complete stranger.. you feel me?

I believe it was rushed and couldn’t go over details in the original novel.. but seriously.. the story doesn’t make sense anymore. I am now speed scrolling thru bc i lost hope in trying to make sense of wtf they are talking about.

this is so peak i can’t believe i accidentally stumbled upon it… plot is so good i flew through the 100+ chapters even when there wasn’t proper romance god i love this

I’m not sure how many analogies one can use but this manhwa was simply like a cheeseburger but there’s only cheese on one side.. if that makes sense.

The beginning was attention grabbing. I liked the setting, the characters *seemed* fairly complex, and I liked the set up of the love triangle even though I’m usually not a fan. Everything was going well even when we discovered how manipulative and tactical the older brother is. I’m a fan of intelligent characters, and even though sirens were going off due to how unhealthily obsessed he was, I liked how he was always two steps ahead. Younger brother was kind of an airhead to me at first, then he started resembling his brother more later on, which i found pretty intriguing because it seemed like he would put up a fight. I thought MC was pretty cute, albeit slightly a pushover, but i know that was an intentional decision from the author. Everything seemed great..

Then we just started going in circles. And circles. And circles. The characters turned one dimensional, i believe it’s partly due to the lack of characters, the author started to back themselves into a corner with the plot points. After all, you can only do so much with a cast consisting of about 5 people (and that’s including the “connector” guy and the ex) I got bored, and despite how unhinged their actions became, they couldn’t undo my boredom. I couldn’t put it down for the first ~35 chapters, then I just could not pick this up again for the life of me.

Even if i complete this, I’m pretty sure i’ll forget about it in 2 days flat. It’s as mediocre as they come, and probably sufficient enough if you have a couple hours of your day to spare or a long flight ahead of you.

also did the brother suddenly turn stupid? bc he was planning this whole big evil scheme to sweep out the throne from under kaels feet while remaining innocent then proceeded to hold maythan hostage in front of literally the entire academy. guess that cat’s out of the bag LMAO.

i don’t even know whether i like this manhwa anymore but ill continue reading simply bc im too far in to drop it
