i didn’t READ read the text bc i was lazy to translate some parts but i think it was dub con? on the last part i think theo tells him that he can have sex with theo all he wants but theo wld never feel anything for him + he can’t force love. at some point gunner was pissed because theo isn’t responsive during sex (ie. not pushing him away). (still though - there’s like 2 chapters of them having sex, i cannot watch it no moreeee)

I think it's their coping mechanisms. Karlyle is like 30 and if you are taught to bottle up your emotions for that long you can't shake it off easily, even if you have a honest partner. Jealousy and love are new concept for him. Ash gives off a lot of people pleaser vibes. He wants to seem good to everyone so he just waves off their flaws and in order to protect his partner he deals with his problems behind the scenes.
