During Ch.57-61 I noted this: (Heewon falling for the brother instead of his fated love Hangyul was because his string is broken thus he fell for someone similar to hangyul: his older brother Jae-yoon -> heewon is gonna do everything possible to disrupt hangyul‘s thread because that way he can connect with Jaeyoon!).

So near the end of the season it was just like you said but honestly rn it doesn't look like he has "connecting with the Hyung" in his back mind
