Maybe it's because most BLs goes straight to the fucking. A lot of these couples don't even have developed chemistry. It's precisely because of the tension that makes non-BL gay ships great... plus the connection also feels more genuine because romance isn't forced down our throats. Characters also get to be characters rather than archetypes.
