To clarify any misunderstandings, no Paula doesn’t like Vincent THAT WAY, nor she wants Violet’s position. Her self-esteem is so low that she never once dreams of being with her master. Vincent being the way he is now, starts falling for Paula and Violet feels it. It’s none of their faults that this love triangle turns out this way. It was potrayed so beautifully heart-breaking in the novel
