I'm sure everyone has noticed, but the ending where Brett invites Hayden to the party also corresponds to Hayden inviting Brett to go to the theater with him. If you knew the last chapter, you would have seen this similarity more clearly. I think it's a good detail to point out that, if Hayden had previously invited Brett to a place where Brett wasn't interested to express his views on the current relationship, then spoiler, Brett invited Hayden to the party to talk, and share with Hayden a little about himself (Even though Hayden was the one who started first, which is good change too)
also when brett invited hayden to the charity party, the way he invited hayden was a bit domineering and forceful? of course hayden could still refuse if he wanted, but if you compare it to the way brett invited hayden now, you can see a big change. he sincerely hoped that hayden would come to the important party to celebrate his victory, and (spoiler) brett really didn't expect hayden to come, like hayden in chapter 10
