tbh... my 2 cents are, there's INFINITE amounts of yaoi content with very clear rape fetish. But most of them actually get to fly under the radar because the author fetishize it so much + romanticise the rape. So all of the sudden, it's cute and consensual. But no bro, realistically, no rape victim is like "omg that actually feels good, do it again", you know what I mean? And the fact that most yaoi media do that is actually so fucking disrespectful. I've even seen literal manga where the author is shamelessly a rape apologist. Stories where somehow, the victim is the one apologizing to the rapist, or somehow, the rape isn't significant enough to be looked as an 'issue'. Now THOSE type of shit make me sick to my stomach.

So this author actually looks a bit better to me bcs at least the victim's reaction is realistic (or not? I'm not sure, I haven't read the latest chapters). At least the victim isn't made out to be some room-level-iq slut + rape apologist.

Well it’s a manhwa , and Korea is literally like that, rapists rarely get any punishment while victims get shitted on. If I remember correctly one of the rules for reporting rape is if there’s evidence of the victim resisting a lot, so like if the victim didn’t resist enough then the court won’t see it as rape, and like just saying no doesn’t mean the victim didn’t want it

So true I think the reason this author sticks out to me is that they make the rape scenes so unnecessary graphic and violent (e.g. victims will be punched kicked vomit etc) and THEN they make the victim stay or even fall in love with the rapist. They have another story exactly like this (sadistic beauty side story) which goes exactly like this however in the end the victim actually ends up with him which is probably how this is gonna go

As for them flying under the radar I think another reason they do is because alot of yaoi fans are underage girls who aren't mature enough yet to realize that what they're viewing is nowhere near a healthy relationship

But what I appreciate about that story is that Minho never fell in love with Wookyung and can never feel the same way towards him. He’s just resigned to living with the dude forever. As for your second comment, I agree that there are a lot of people who are way too young be reading this stuff—though media literacy is just kinda dead across the board, even for adults. I like this story just fine, but it really confuses me when people are able to accept other stories that feature abusive and sexually violent relationships as long as the abuse happens “in the name of love” or whatever. Like, “oh, he raped him because he loved him so much but he apologized”. They can’t handle rape being depicted as an act of violence. Personally I’d rather read this story about a rapist tormenting another rapist than some other generic BL where a sexually abusive relationship is rehabilitated for the sake of Hawt Yaoi Seks.

honestly the trope you mentioned wasn't even the worst out there. I once read a yaoi where the uke had to hide their identity (because otherwise ppl are gonna be out to kill him), and the seme was so mad when he found out that he raped uke. After that, SOMEHOW, the story still made it seem like uke was at fault. The rape literally was not addressed at all, and in the the uke apologized to seme for being what he is. That shit made me seek god for real

I get it. Although sexual violence is one big, evil spectrum in the long run. Having a physical reaction to rape is not consent and doesn’t mean the victim wanted it. It’s just the direction a lot of BL tend to go where BECAUSE the rape was “good” it means the perpetrator and the victim can be all lovey dovey together that makes me LOL. I’d respect yaoi readers a lot more if they could just admit that 85% of the smut they’re reading is rape. But they only have outrage for this specific BL because they can’t pretend otherwise.

lol yeah, It's an icky feeling seeing people legit defend and glorify rape on brain-dead yaoi content like that but then act like a saint when the story is a bit more realistic about the victim's suffering. imo stories that exclude or twist the victim's pain and suffering into something fluffy is 10x more disgusting than gore rape like this. That's not even just rape apologist, that's literally glorifying rape.
