Story are meant to provoke emotion. To make the reader discuss. To show a bigger picture on a topic/story. Readers nowadays just doesn't care to use their reading comprehension anymore because they chose to simplified thing so much. They see people writing something long to further explain the dynamic in the story because there are readers who doesn't fully grasp the nuance or just doesn't care enough to understand it. Instead of actually using their comprehension skills they equates it to the "character is shitty because people are writing paragraph to defend.." literacy is truly dead.
