this manhua is so dear to me . it's hard to read bc lu qi is so relatable through his struggles yet that's also what makes it so good. so many media i've read with these tropes make it so 'love can fix anything' but irl, that's not how it works– sometimes blind love, faith, hope etc isn't enough to keep one going.

lu qi can tolerate or even enjoy moments with shi liu, lu qi can miss his parents yet feel indifferent towards them, lu qi can wait for shi liu to kill him and yet, he's one bad day away from growing impatient. this chapter represents the extremity and complexities of emotion.

i see ppl wishing for a happy ending, and though i feel the same, more than anything i hope the progression of the story works towards an ending true to their characters, and if they do undergo change, that it will be a positive one. it's not about the ending for me, it's about how they get there. i wish 16647 to find joy and fervor for life
