About the story from the past and how they meet again

their past:
In the earlier chs we see a glimpse of won woo's old life, I mean the flashback where he's pushing the wheelchair of a covered man, it's him and Gye Yoon.
I'm caught up with all the translated vols and so far it doesn't tell us what happened to ml for him to end up like that but we can probably presume it may be due to his lack of guiding.
But yeah long short story in won woo's og universe he gets rescued by this c-class guide (we later discover it's gye yoon's nanny) and he's raised by her.
In the war, the woman would go away at times to fight against espers (mc did so too) and one day she brought this man unable to speak and even move. Won woo would notice the man's stare full of loathing towards the c-class guide as if silently asking her why she is still keeping him alive and making him suffer (since he literally can't do anything) but the woman would look at him with warm eyes. Bc of that mc was jealous of Gye Yoon, he could see they had a special relationship (he didn't know their identities so he also didn't know she was the man's guide/nanny, he discovers it in the current universe). Though that would soon change bc in the moments where the guide was away, the two began bonding in their own way (even more after the guide passed rip), won woo enjoyed the company of this silent companion (he would talk to him even though he knew he wouldn't get a response). And, as time passed, he also noticed that Gye Yoon started looking at him with different eyes, with eyes full of longing

So they didnt exactly confess in the past? And how soon are they gonna meet up in the present? I really wanna know how their dynamic changes
