When you grow up like that, it’s natural to build walls, to push people away, and to act distant—even with someone who genuinely cares about you. You get angry easily, scared to let anyone in, and sometimes the only way you know how to deal with feelings is to hide them or act like they don’t matter.
Yeah, he realized his feelings a bit later than some would want, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t real or that it excuses how he treated Kim Dan. What’s important is that he did realize it. His actions started changing, even if he didn’t say “sorry” in words—he showed care, protection, and consideration in his own way. That’s Jaekyung’s kind of apology, and for someone like him, it’s huge. Not everyone can admit they’re wrong out loud, especially someone who’s spent their life defending themselves from the world.
Miss Mingwa made it clear in Jinx that not all love stories are perfect. Relationships have flaws, people make mistakes, and love doesn’t always come at the right time. That’s what makes this story feel real. Jaekyung and Kim Dan’s relationship isn’t flawless, but it’s real. He grows, he learns, and he slowly becomes someone Kim Dan can rely on—and that’s what matters. It’s messy, it’s complicated, but it’s honest.

Okay, I’m not here to protect or defend Jaekyung, so don’t get me wrong. I just want people to realize that this story is a bit toxic, but that’s exactly what makes it feel more real. I’ve read the whole thing, and I can feel Kim Dan’s suffering—the hurt, the confusion, the way he keeps trying even when it’s hard. This isn’t a perfect love story, and it’s not supposed to be. People make mistakes, feelings are messy, and sometimes love comes with pain. I just think it’s important to see both sides and understand why the characters act the way they do, instead of oversimplifying everything. ┑(￣Д ￣)┍
I totally agree with you — people need to understand that you can’t just change overnight. It takes time to realize your mistakes and work on becoming a better person. I actually think Joo’s behavior feels pretty realistic, unlike in other manhwas where everything is magically solved after three chapters. The story still has a long way to go, so there’s really no need to judge too quickly.
What I do find a bit annoying is how people keep saying that his past doesn’t justify the way he acted. Nobody ever said it was meant as a justification — it’s just there to help explain why he behaves the way he does, and it has nothing to do with his redemption.
That being said, I really hope no one gets upset. I understand everyone has their own opinion, and this is simply mine ( ◜‿◝ )♡
