I'm around ch60 but MC is such a wasted talent. She was labelled as genius of the century but the story didn't put such concept into practice. All she did was magicraft 101 with Cesare, chasing away black fog, summoning demon a few times with headaches and that's it. She gets no action nor proper chance to develop her talent. And her mother's revelation basically just slapped her with The Chosen One trope, it's like giving gold to monkey at that point.
Her character development also leans more to bad than good. I like how she finally finds her place and her people. I also like how the revenge was satisfying, usually we're given "I'm bigger person than you" bullshit. BUT she was mostly reckless, rushing without plan, impulsive liar, and constantly ignoring warning signs which 100% puts herself in danger for Cesare to play the knight in shining armor. Peak cinema was when girl thought she was being slick with Eugene.

Uhh... Is this based on a novel or nah? Did I miss a lot of things? Because Randell acts like he's the rightful heir when he does nothing but being wallflower stinking the whole castle wih his putrid audacity by just being exist?
I get that he has no respect for his spineless father of a king who did nothing but turned a blind eye towards his own monster wife's reign of terror. Despite his redemption arc, I get that those short time might just not enough to heal or it was too late.
BUT the fugg is your contribution to the plot? To the country?
I get that Calien/Bern was too busy surviving and he's not yet of age by the start of the story to do any heir training/practice but even then his necessity to survive actually benefit the country A LOT by getting rid of corrupt nobles.
But what about Randel? He's of age already by the start of the story. BUT WHAT DID HE EVEN DO??? What is even his achievement??? Smuggling Paladin???
If not for Calien/Bern, his right to the throne was practically next to zero. His only advantage was just by being born FIRST. He's not even popular among the masses. The king and the only dukedom strongly favored Calien. So his claim to the throne over someone else's effort is such a clown statement. A whole circus even?
I feel like he'll reveal his card in the near future, but I wished the author would give us better foundation for him to be a villain rather than giving shocking revelation and infodumping everything later.
Ikr ?? Randell is the most useless and unbefitting to be a king .. he's like a damn NPC doing nothing despite being the oldest ..all I see he did is eat luncheon, trim all the roses , make the roses wilt and show his indifferent face from time to time in public ..is this someone that aim for a throne??
Don't worry. This is all a set up for his back story and arc. He just pretended like he didn't want to be involved in the fight to the throne because he was biding his time for the right moment to bare his fangs.
I haven't read too far into the novel, but there's a chance that they did things better in the novel in regards to this. Unfortunately, the one managing the story is the author's friend because the author passed away so some things so some things may be done differently.
