I just finished reading *The Boss* side story, and it completely ruined the otherwise wholesome main story. I wouldn’t recommend reading it. This side story was quite intense.....
The story became difficult to read because the seme (the boss) didn’t know how to express his emotions and resorted to violence whenever he developed feelings for someone. This was partly due to past trauma. his father was a terrible person, that person also viewed the uke in a sexual way when they were children. So, when the seme tried to protect the uke, he did so with violence, believing that was the only way to keep him safe.
When the uke confessed his feelings, the seme somewhat understood in a asswhole type of shit he's crazy like really onto something, and it didn’t really change the core issues. The redemption arc felt rushed and incomplete. By the end, the boss is still deeply manipulated and doesn't change much. The ending feels hollow, and the boss still has a kink for hurting the uke. So, yeah… big red no black flag, no thanks.
