Actually no. That was how he first learned about a “jinx” and then when he was coincidentally invited out to a club and happened to have sex then win a match THAT was what prompted him to lean that direction. It could’ve been anything that took his mind off the nightmares but with the timing it became that. That was my understanding of this chapter.
