I loved it during the first read and I still quite like it after re-reading but now I realized that Ryuunosuke tends to one-sidedly blame Kouta for things. Like the first incident in the club, Ryuu basically got mad at Kouta although they weren't even officially together atp and Ryuu was always like 'lend me your dick' so Idk what exactly did he expect. If not for Kouta's initiative to clear things up they wouldn't even get together. Then this situation in the hotel, and I'm afraid such a patter will keep repeating even after they bond. Obviously, it's not like I don't get why Ryuu felt insecure, but he wasn't the only one suffering. From the beginning it was Kouta who did more to get this relationship going, Imo.
The novel is tagged as a 'tragedy' so I'd like to know how tragic it really is and if it's BE.
They find Ajin in the forest, bring him, he gets blamed. Nearly killed, instead of being killed he makes a deal (he says I’ll do anything) and Seokju(?) says he owes him 1million won and basically rapes him for months, chains him to his room because he feels “betrayed” ajin ends up hating him and he tries to kill himself. He later finds out Ajin is innocent and feels really guilty. From how the latest ch was written I think the rape is gonna start soon in probably 2-3 chapters
I admit that I enjoy how healthy this pairing is and like the overall plot, but I still need to point out that the alpha ML being underage makes me uncomfortable. Let's be real, the author could've easily adjusted the setting to make them both adults. After seeing how many BL mangakas get scolded for underage characters on a regular basis, I can clearly see that this one gets a free pass simply because the pair is cute. It's alright but it's still a double standard, not to mention high rating of 9.7 when other mangas get downvoted for the very same reason. I guess it's the same with other controversial themes where some mangas are being hyped while others scolded despite being in fact similar. Again, I have nothing against Kiraide Isasete, just don't wanna pretend that the issue doesn't exist at all.
I’d say yeah I do still here with you regardless, but he is an under he’s 18 he was 18 when they met because it was the last year Alamos close to the end of the year. I think I don’t remember but I’m pretty sure he was 18 not that gives it or makes it any better. I just would’ve prefer if he wasn’t in high school in general he could’ve been a custodian at college and that would’ve been completely fine though I would say that his general character would’ve had to been elevated So he would have to been changed a bit
ik i have no qualms apart from this. they could’ve made him a college student or smth. why does he have to be a high schooler? if it was reversed (uke being the younger one), i think ppl would see more of a problem with it. and this is coming from someone who loves this manga a lot. whenever i re-read this, i just pretend he’s of age for my sanity.
Ikr, it's a pity because otherwise it's one of most wholesome and healthy relationships in omegaverse, and one of most respectful alpha MLs. I agree that him being an alpha and top is also one of possible reasons why many readers choose to ignore the issue, unfortunately double standards are often strong in BL community.
I agree, even with an age gap the ML could’ve been a bit older… like the story wouldn’t even have changed if the omega was hired as a custodian for a college haha. And it means Hayato would’ve had more years to mature instead of being a dad right outta high school lmao.
I made a comment about their conflict resolution in one of the chapters that didn’t sit right with me and got downvoted, I guess ppl like their comfort manga so much that even slight criticism from OTHER FANS get disliked to oblivion lmao
It's non-con turned con, I guess. Common thing in yaoi but it doesn't make it any less absurd. Even if seme 'accepted' uke's advances in the end, it started off as a rape. Uke forcibly grabbed his face, groped him, threatened him with their past and acted violently. Then we see seme giving uke a bj and I think it's clear he didn't do this on his own accord but rather due to uke's forcefulness and low-key (or not so low-key) blackmail. Uke knows well that seme wants to hide their past and he uses this knowledge against him. Then he just sat on his dick. Seme didn't give any kind of consent at this point. Later he also starts to thrust into uke but for me it still counts as rape on the whole. Saying that seme could've pushed uke away is bullshit. For now we have no proof that seme is physically stronger and sometimes rape victims aren't able to fight back because of shock and/or fear. Making it 'consensual' all of sudden is a nonsense, but as I said it's your standard yaoi trope and it's just a fantasy... Not my kind of fantasy but to each their own. I'm not gonna criticize rape in yaoi (it's pointless and I don't see readers enjoying it as 'rape apologists' or sth) but I want to point out that it was rape. We can argue about seme 'consenting' in the end however I woudn't ever agree that he has given his consent from the beginning especially with uke threatening behavior. If the roles were reversed and it was seme forcing uke who started to 'enjoy' it after some time I would think that it's rape, too. I think the majority of readers would think so, but if it's seme being forced I can't even see 'rape' tag and almost everyone seem to be confused or consider it consensual for whatever reasons.
All these comments about this manga being non-violent and non-rapey are ridiculous and prove one thing - unfortunately double standards DO exist. What happened in the first chapter could be called a 'forced seduction' but lets be blunt and call it rape. Seme clearly says 'stop it', he struggles and uke restrains him forcibly. Usually it's more than enough to see that someone was raped, but not this time, apparently. All you can see is power bottom being in charge. You conveniently ignore the fact that their first sex was non-consensual. Why? Because Shinonome is a seme and 'seme can't be raped'? Let me break it to you, if someone forces himself on the other person it's rape and being top or bottom doesn't change anything. Topping/bottoming is just a matter of personal preference and it can't justify committing an assault. A lot of readers condemn mangakas for creating stories with rape theme (see Kajou Mousou Shounen by the same author) and yet they cheer for uke raping seme (!). I don't hate this manga and I'm not gonna judge people with a non-con fetish, but this story is not better than any other yaoi with a rape to love trope. The usual roles of victim and culprit are reversed, that's all. My fellow yaoi readers, dislike my comment if it makes your mood better, but please don't be hypocrites and don't support double standards (I'm sorry for the rant, but I couldn't help myself).
I don't think that Mikajima was a bottom in the AV. Why? The reason is very simple. The director tried to lure him saying 'the top role is easily done with better pay', indicating that he would get more money for topping than he gets for his current job. I'm not a porn expert, but it's reasonable to think that tops and bottoms gets the same wages. If Mikajima's job is paid less than topping, it's easy to figure out that it doesn't involve penetrative sex (or at least not anal sex).
Honestly, I saw some comment sections for mangas with cheating characters where the readers were less fired up than here. Like... can't you just wait for further chapters and make sure that there is any real reason for scolding the seme? Yeah, if he lied about them not being lovers, then he deserves all criticism he gets, but you can't be sure yet unless you know Japanese and read the raws. And even if he didn't tell all the truth, he doesn't deserve this kind of hate. I'm sure that everyone has some things from the past they would rather hide from their partners because they're simply ashamed of their life choices. Yes, it doesn't justify lying, but we shouldn't judge the seme without a full picture of the situation. I know the uke is lovely and we don't want him to feel insecure, but the seme is also a person, not some kind of robot that have no right to make any mistakes.
He seems to be an airhead, someone childish and unreliable, but that's not all the truth about his character. In reality he's mature enough to recognize his own feelings and determined enough to chase after seme. He's not like some other ukes that are just passively waiting to be worshipped, while not caring at all about the relationship and its future.
Beautifully said. I love this whole manga because the character growth is not only believable, it is also written smoothly and the circumstances that surround the growth are realistic. This mangaka is a true storyteller. She knows how to draw you in and make you understand and genuinely care about her characters and the events in their lives.

Ngl, the way this whole brother issue was handled made me quite mad. It's already bad enough that he got forgiven so easily but what makes it even worse is the fact that there was no real repentance on his part, he was an asshole until the end, only gave a half-assed apology in the message and even before that Miyabi was the one feeling guilty towards him. Maybe it is 'realistic' considering Miyabi's deep-rooted inferiority complex as an omega but I would prefer to see him growing more as a person instead of beating himself up in front of his asshole brother. Not only that, Haruto who's Miyabi's mate doesn't even realize that the brother isn't just a regular asshole but an attempted rapist and remains oblivious while they're in contact again. If he knew he would definitely be against them interacting. It's understandable that Miyabi doesn't want to reveal something so traumatizing about his past but it leaves a bit of a bitter taste after an overall very good story.
Agreeeed. It only pissed me off so much
I was piss off too, but base on my experience siblings do tend to have ass apologies and repentance quite common, like my aunts and Mom, even my Dad to his half siblings.
It's because of the environment, my Mom grow up in a abusive household through verbally and physically downgrade them siblings by which is her Father who was very alcoholic, my Mom's view of what normal in the family was quite shocking, especially for my Dad side of the family too, he experience abuse too but in a form of neglect and abandonment, but can't you believe is both my parents grow up in that negative way but me and my brother received so much love even if they do not say it verbally but through action we can feel love and care.
Wow monologue so long haha, but anyways, yeah that's just how it works, they may not repent especially the stubborness of a close minded parents who only view their correctness and not the flaws of their doing which I so much hate that they aren't even apologetic but instead blame their victims that they where the ones wrong and not them (which is super bullshit and so much gaslight) but even so we need to move forward and be free of this invisible shackles that was built by our own selves.
additionally, I know this is long and my grammar is not quite right, all I'm gonna say is THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR RAPE, we better see that brother be plowed in the ass hopefully in his version (of there is gonna be)
What you’re saying is true and in an ideal world the brother would face more punishment and harsher consequences but i find this kind of response and lackluster apology is very on brand, especially for asian households as i personally have experienced stuff like this. My mother’s siblings have treated her worse than a worm before and they now speak and converse as if nothing happened when I personally have witnessed what they do to my mother. Its unfortunate that it’s a realistic response. Some ppl just sweep shi under the rug and communication is very much nonexistent.
Super, therapist is even out of the question to overcome trauma, as long as you live and don't go crazy you won't need hospital.
