From experience reading stories like this, ML will back off once he realizes they’ve reached a dead end where MC would rather die than stay with him. Couple years passes and bam, ML redeems himself by virtue of time and shows up as a new mature stable man and ready to commit without toxicity. The end.
I wish there was a story where the best thing for them both is to just part ways. Even if the ML backs off and works through their shit and MC forgives them that doesn't mean that have to end up together
