Like seriously I think the concept of keeping important information secret from the relevant party is a trope protected by the divine power of plot armor!
Authors around the world need to learn how to write stories that don’t depend on poor communication between couples to drive the plot. Trust and relying on your partner when you’re weak is a sign of a healthy relationship. We need more healthy relationships for our mcs. Believe it or not, even couples without problems can still get into plot worthy situations.
