If he doesn't lose his reasoning the god promised the way out for end of his wife suffering. So he's just hanging there searching for it and met Rose.
Ml fell in love with Rose when they were children. And after seeing her long time after he couldn't let her go cause of his vassal's word that said most safe place will be beside him who is holy being(the vassal is protecter of justice and every generation he helps those loved ones and being there for them when they are suffering)
Ml becames blessed one cause his brother resemles the first king too much the Gold chose the our Ml be the one. If blessed one dies the blessing will transfer to the older brother so gold trying her best not to make him die. She doing what she can do, but she can't defy the destiny either. So gold told Rose to not tell anything about sacrifice has made.
Ml being traumatized cause if he loves the Rose until the end she will die cause it's too late to not love her anymore. And guilt has been eating him from the inside cause every bas thing happening is because of him.
And season 2 is about they finding the answer and put ease to Ml's mind. So there is no ghost trope at the moment cause they are not taking place in imperial palace. And if my guess is right the third prince from neighbor country is descendant of the goddess too. He's different looking from their brothers(more handsome and scheming hhe) and he's has very big desire to be king. He is something to do with ritual that take place in Gold's birth village and the third child of the Gold. The box they opened when they do the ritual, there were white shining ball. And the sparkle went into the cloth he was wrapped.
